Days Out On Our Doorstep!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The sun has started to stay out a little later everyday, and it’s looking like we could have a lovely summer (fingers crossed!). It’s a busy time for us, with customers collecting their new caravans and motorhomes every day. For those who’ve travelled a long way to reach us, we provide a free night at Ream Hills Caravan Site close to our Preston dealership. The site is lovely, and we’re lucky to be based in an area packed full of activities our customers can enjoy while they get the hang of their new home-on-the-road. Here’s a list of our favourite nearby activities that both locals and out-of-towners can enjoy.

Ribble Steam Railway

Drive from Preston Caravans and Motorhomes: 6 minutes

Whether you’re a train enthusiast or just looking for a different way to spend the day, the Ribble Steam Railway is an interesting and fun attraction, just round the corner from our dealership.
Open every weekend and bank holiday, the railway calendar is crammed with events and special activities – and from May to September, visitors can enjoy a 3 mile round trip train journey, taking in the views of the River Ribble.

Kids will love Bowland Boar Park

Bowland Wild Boar Animal Park

Drive from Preston Caravans and Motorhomes: 45 minutes

If you like cute animals and lovely scenery (and I think most of us do!) Bowland Wild Boar Animal Park is well worth a visit. One of the massive advantages to a caravan or motorhome holiday is the chance to experience the natural beauty of the UK and Europe, of which the park is a fantastic example. Kids won’t be able to resist once they see the range of wildlife in the area including deer, boar, llamas, and wallabies. If that wasn’t enough, lamb and meerkat feeds and chick stroking sessions are also on offer seasonally.
For those with limited mobility, simply call ahead and arrange to use their specially designed mobility scooter, ideal for getting over those uneven terrains.

Blackpool Tower and Pleasure Beach

Drive from Preston Caravans and Motorhomes: 30 minutes

From nostalgic ambience to state of the art thrill seeking, the Blackpool coastline caters for all audiences.
Listen to the Wurlitzer with afternoon tea at the Tower Ballroom – or dance all day if you’re feeling a bit “Strictly”. If you’re looking for something more high octane, head to the rollercoasters and funfair attractions at the Pleasure Beach – book 10 days or more in advance to save money on your tickets.
Make sure you get a stick of rock and some fish and chips though – it’s a Blackpool necessity.

Lytham Beach

Drive from Preston Caravans and Motorhomes: 30 minutes

Blackpool of course has a beach, but if you’re looking for a more tranquil day by the seaside, nearby coastal town Lytham St Annes is just the ticket. With trendy bars, coffee shops and places to buy sweet treats, there’s no shortage of places to wander to – thought with the opportunity to rent beach huts, you might find the beach too idyllic to venture from!

Salmesbury Hall

Drive from Preston Caravans and Motorhomes: 20 minutes

The Hall is a beautifully maintained stately home, first built in 1325. Wander through the grounds and keep an eye out for the working animals that are dotted around, or explore the hall with it’s coffee shop and restaurant.
Their events calendar is packed with activities for families, so check their website to see if there’s something special on to enjoy during your visit.

Go Ape, Rivington

Drive from Preston Caravans and Motorhomes: 40 minutes

It’s already won a Best Tourism Experience Award, and it’s easy to see why. Go Ape combines the woodland scenery surrounding Rivington with a treetop adventure course. Zip wires, tarzan swings and other fun challenges make for a truly thrilling day out. Kids from 10 upwards will love it as much as adults (though parents who don’t like heights might prefer taking photos from solid ground!)
